The Role
is looking for an experienced Garage Door & Entry Door Installer who can professionally install both garage door systems and residential/commercial entry doors.
We’ve been serving South Florida since 1981. We’re a small, family-owned company providing garage doors, entry doors, windows, and related service throughout Broward, Palm Beach, and Miami-Dade counties.
This position is for a versatile installer who already knows both trades, can work independently, and can lead a helper in the field.
This is not an entry-level position. Professional garage door and entry door installation experience is required.
What You’ll Do
Your workload will vary based on scheduled projects and may include garage door installations, residential entry doors, commercial hollow metal doors, and related field work.
GARAGE DOORS
- Install residential sectional garage doors
- Install light commercial sectional garage doors
- Install rolling steel doors
- Install tracks, springs, cables, drums, rollers, struts, hardware, and related components
- Install and set up residential and light commercial garage door operators when required
- Properly level, balance, adjust, test, and finish completed garage door systems
- Identify installation issues and solve common field problems independently
ENTRY DOORS
- Install residential and commercial entry doors
- Remove and replace existing exterior door systems
- Install residential prehung exterior doors
- Install commercial hollow metal doors and frames
- Install frames, thresholds, weatherstripping, hardware, and related components
- Properly level, plumb, square, secure, adjust, and finish installed doors
- Install and adjust locks, handles, closers, panic/exit hardware, and related commercial door hardware
- Perform necessary installation-related trim and finishing work
- Identify and address common field conditions encountered during replacement installations
FIELD RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review work orders and verify materials before and during installations
- Identify field problems and determine appropriate solutions
- Lead and direct an Installation Helper when assigned
- Train less-experienced helpers in proper installation methods and safe work practices
- Protect customers’ property and maintain a clean, professional jobsite
- Complete required photos and job documentation using company apps
- Communicate job progress, material issues, and field problems with the office
- Represent Door Doctor professionally with customers, contractors, and other trades
required experience and qualifications
We’re specifically looking for someone who can contribute immediately without needing to be trained into either trade.
- Professional garage door installation experience required
- Professional residential and commercial entry door installation experience required
- No formal education requirement. We value demonstrated ability, reliability, and relevant trade experience over degrees or diplomas.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant professional installation experience
- Must be able to install residential sectional garage doors independently
- Experience installing light commercial sectional garage doors
- Experience installing rolling steel doors
- Ability to properly install, adjust, balance, and troubleshoot garage door systems
- Ability to complete residential entry door replacements independently
- Experience installing residential prehung exterior door systems
- Experience installing commercial hollow metal doors and frames required
- Experience with commercial door hardware, including closers and panic/exit hardware
- Ability to troubleshoot common installation and field-condition problems
- Valid driver’s license required
- Driving record must be acceptable to our insurance carrier
- Reliable transportation to our Oakland Park office/warehouse
- Ability to lift 75+ lbs regularly
- Comfortable working on ladders and at heights
- Comfortable performing physical work outdoors in South Florida heat and weather
- Own hand tools and power tools required
- Smartphone capable of running company job and communication apps
- Ability to work independently without constant oversight
- Dependable, punctual, and professional

Pay & Schedule
This position uses a combination of piece-work and hourly compensation.
- Piece-work rates vary by project
- $22–$27 per hour for work performed outside the piece-work structure
- Monday–Friday
- Typical schedule approximately 7:30 AM–3:30 PM
- Occasional overtime or Saturday work when needed
- Saturday work is generally uncommon
