The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Garage Door Installer to install residential and light commercial garage doors throughout Broward, Palm Beach, and Miami-Dade counties.
We’ve been serving South Florida since 1981. We’re a small, family-owned company looking for an installer who knows the garage door trade, takes pride in quality workmanship, can work independently, and is comfortable leading a helper in the field.
This is not an entry-level position. Professional garage door installation experience is required.
What You’ll Do
As a Garage Door Installer, you’ll be responsible for completing installations safely, professionally, and efficiently from start to finish.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Install residential sectional garage doors
- Install light commercial sectional garage doors
- Install rolling steel doors
- Remove and replace existing garage doors and related equipment
- Install tracks, springs, cables, drums, rollers, struts, hardware, and related components
- Install and set up residential and light commercial garage door operators when required

- Identify installation issues and solve common field problems independently
- Review work orders and verify materials before and during installations
- Lead and direct an Installation Helper on assigned jobs
- Train new helpers in proper installation methods and safe work practices when needed
- Protect customers’ property and maintain a clean, professional jobsite
- Complete required photos and job documentation using company apps
- Communicate job progress, material issues, and field problems with the office
- Represent Door Doctor professionally with customers, contractors, and other trades
required experience and qualifications
We’re looking for someone who can contribute immediately without needing to be trained in garage door installation.
- Minimum 1 year of professional garage door installation experience required
- No formal education requirement. We value demonstrated ability, reliability, and relevant trade experience over degrees or diplomas.
- Must be able to install residential sectional garage doors independently
- Experience installing light commercial sectional garage doors
- Experience installing rolling steel doors
- Ability to properly install, adjust, balance, and troubleshoot garage door systems
- Valid driver’s license required
- Driving record must be acceptable to our insurance carrier
- Reliable transportation to our Oakland Park office/warehouse
- Ability to lift 75+ lbs regularly
- Comfortable working on ladders and at heights
- Comfortable performing physical work outdoors in South Florida heat and weather
- Own hand tools and power tools required
- Smartphone capable of running company job and communication apps
- Ability to work independently without constant oversight
- Dependable, punctual, and professional
Experience leading a helper or installation crew is preferred.
WHAT MAKES A GOOD FIT
We’re looking for more than someone who can put a door in.
A strong Door Doctor installer:
- Shows up on time and ready to work
- Takes ownership of the entire installation
- Produces clean, professional finished work
- Pays attention to details
- Solves problems instead of waiting for someone else to solve them

- Treats customers and their property with respect
- Leads helpers respectfully and productively
- Is willing to teach less-experienced helpers
- Takes safety seriously
- Can be trusted to work independently
- Takes pride in being a skilled tradesperson
